Wolkenstayn - Portativ Taubenei Columba vorn 1

This organetto, the size of medieval instruments, offers all the possibilities of a sophisticated instrument.

According to medieval sources, the pipes were built with a constant diameter and the strength was approximately that of a "pigeon's egg", which results in a more bowing sound in the depths and an open, flute-like sound in the heights.

With a range of 2 octaves, the “Columba” offers a very powerful, open and interesting sound with a wide dynamic range for expressive playing and exciting sound effects.

Two optionally supplied low additional pipes “g” and “a” can be easily swapped to complement the low register, for example for the short octave with the tone sequence g-a-b-c1-d1.

The instrument frame for this offers padded extra space for the interchangeable pipes.

The design follows illustrations from the 12th century. The casing cheeks with the beautiful rosettes were modeled on the shape of the western facade of the Romanesque Church of St. Johannis in Schwäbisch Gmünd.

Cantiga wood, other frame shapes are also possible on request.

All keys, even several at the same time, can be individually locked as drone tones using adjustable drone levers.

In addition to the full-fledged, precise and smooth-running organ keyboard (also with a transposition device on request) made of a variety of woods, we also offer a simple button keyboard based on an early medieval model.

Large bellows made of white sheepskin/cherry wood.

The decorated and engraved frame is made of maple, or if desired, for example, of beautiful, elegant and resistant walnut or cherry; oiled. Version also available in fine bird's eye maple or other attractive types of wood.

The metal pipes are made of a tin/lead alloy; tuning sleeves made of parchment paper or metal; other material available on request.

Strong, very interesting colorful sound.

Pitch: a=440Hz (or as desired) further information about tuning/tunes). Also available with transposition device (e.g. 415 - 440 or 440 - 466 Hz) on request.
